Rainfall (Factors affecting Climate)

By: Linen Calope Jr.

RAINFALL

Countries in tropical regions, especially those surounded by big bodies of water like the Philippines, have high temperature and rainfall. The direct rays of the sun heat the surface water from the surrounding oceans, seas, lakes and rivers.

Evaporation is made faster by too much heat. More water vapor rise to the air which condense to form clouds and soon fall down as rain.

Rains are influenced by the pattern of wind movements. In regions where there is low pressure, heavy rains fall. Rains are plenty at the equator and decrease toward te poles. At about 20 degrees to 30 degrees latitude air is heavy and very little condenationtakes place so there is very little rain. Near the poles, warm air meets cold air so cycloones or storms develop. As the wind changes direction, the amount of rainfall alsoo changes.
